
THOUGHTS ON MY MIND There isn’t one right way to respond to dementia-related behaviors. There’s literally hundreds of different ways. That’s good news because it means if you’ve tried something that hasn’t worked, there’s likely something else that you haven’t yet tried that will work. But it’s also not so good news. Having a bunch of different options can feel overwhelming, leaving you unsure of where to start. That’s why this week, I shared 5 of my favorite strategies that feel strange but actually work. Responding to someone with dementia sometimes can feel like learning a new language. We don’t always know what to say or how to say it, but we have to try in order to succeed. My hope is that at some point this week, you’ll choose one of these strategies with your loved one this week.
