💡 Thought of the Week

This is going to hurt.

There’s no way around it:

Caregiving will be hard.

It doesn’t matter how many newsletters you read or support groups you attend…the challenges of caregiving will still come. Because that’s how life works.

Before you were a Careblazer, and even long after your journey ends, life will continue to offer hardship.

So maybe the goal was never to avoid hardship.
Maybe the real goal is to get better at handling it.

To build the kind of strength that helps you recover faster.
To hold onto your peace, even when everything around you feels chaotic.
To feel more grounded and in control, not because the world is calm, but because you are.

That’s the real work of caregiving.
And it’s some of the most powerful work you’ll ever do.

So instead of trying to outrun pain, what if we stopped and faced it, together?

Because when you stop resisting the hard… it gets less hard.

Funny how that works, isn’t it?

You can’t control what caregiving throws at you.
But you can control how you respond.
That’s where your power lives.
And that’s where your peace begins.

💌 From The Inbox

Each week, I answer a real question submitted by a Dementia Dose subscriber — and share a private video response exclusively for this community.

This week’s question comes from Debra, who asks:

Q: How do I help my partner cope when she loses her driver’s license?

A: This might seem like a tough transition, but the answer is actually simpler than you might think. In fact, it involves something you’ve already done with others throughout your life.

📺 Video of the Week

Just hours after it went live, this week’s video climbed to #1 — and it’s clear why.

It uncovers the unspoken griefs of dementia caregiving — the kind you were never warned about, but feel deeply every day.

It’s raw. It’s real. And it might just make you feel a little more understood.

I’m diving deeper into how this one brain system could be quietly making caregiving feel even harder … and how you can retrain it to start working for you instead of against you.

This isn’t about pretending everything is okay. It’s about understanding how your brain is wired, so you can start to feel more calm, in control, and supported in your day-to-day caregiving life.

🧰 Careblazer Favorites: Reflections

This week, I’m sharing one of my go-to tools — a simple little notebook I carry everywhere.

It’s where I capture thoughts, set goals, and — back when I was caring for my parents — it’s where I tracked patterns, jotted ideas, and noted small wins.

Even though I do most things digitally now, there’s still something powerful about putting pen to paper. These notebooks are small, sturdy, and affordable. They come in tons of colors… and as you’ll see, I’ve started quite the collection.

Whenever one fills up, I order another. If you’re looking for a comforting place to capture your thoughts (and maybe even your dreams), these are my favorite. Click Here to check them out.
