Careblazer,
Yesterday, during one of our support group meetings inside the Care Collective, a member shared the guilt she’s been carrying since her husband passed away.
She told us how her mind keeps replaying the moments she lost her patience. The times she wished she’d handled things differently. We gave her space to share. To grieve. To be honest.
Then I asked the group:
“Raise your hand if you’ve never lost your patience with your loved one.”
Not a single hand went up.
Caregiving is hard.
No one does it perfectly.
What matters is that you keep showing up.

Q: This week’s question comes from an anonymous caregiver, who asks:
“How do you redirect someone who wants to fix things outside like ceiling fans?”
A: There are 2 important things to keep in mind whenever you are trying to redirect someone with dementia from a potentially unsafe activity.
The first approach is proactive – preventing it from happening in the first place.
The second approach is reacting – how to successfully redirect when they are already doing the behavior you want them to stop.
I break it all down in this week’s private video response. ⬇️

Could one overlooked vitamin really slow down dementia?
A 2020 study in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease found that people who took this supplement experienced 43% less decline than those who didn’t!
In this week’s video, I break down the research—and whether this could be a game-changer for your loved one.
So many caregivers believe that joy isn’t possible on this heartbreaking journey.
They assume caregiving is just something to “get through”—and that happiness will have to wait until later.
But our members know that’s not true.
Yes, there is heartbreak and pain.
But there is also love. And real joy.

🧰 Careblazer Favorites: A Vitamin with Brain-Boosting Promise
This week’s pick is a supplement called benfotiamine, a special form of vitamin B1 that’s showing promising results in dementia research. In fact, I first heard about it from a local neurologist who recommends it to many of his patients.
If you’re curious, you can learn more and check out reviews below. As always, be sure to talk to your doctor before starting any new supplement!
Sending love,
